Ingredients:
2 whole ripe tomatoes
1 small onion chopped
2-3 green chillies slit
2 tablespoon tamarind seedless
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
5-6 curry leaves
5-6 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon whole black pepper
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon asafoetida
2 tablespoon chopped coriander
2 whole red chillies
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon coconut oil/oil
Water 6 cups

Non Fried Medu Vada :
Makes 20-25 pieces
Preparation time 30 minutes (+ 2 hours soaking )
Cooking time 45 minutes

Ingredients
11/2 cup Urad Dal (Black Gram/Black lentils) Soaked for 2 hours
1 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon chopped ginger
1 teaspoon chopped green chillies (or to taste)
1 tablespoon crushed black pepper (or to taste )
1 teaspoon baking soda
8-10 piece curry leaves
2 tablespoon chopped coriander
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt to taste
oil/ghee for brushing
