In this video, I run through the process of replacing a new shift cable in a Sram MTB shifter. The shifter in the video is a GX model, but the process is the same for most Sram models. Also is the process of routing the cable through the rear derailleur. The most common mistake I see is incorrect cable routing/fastening to the rear derailleur.
In general, shift cables should be replaced annually or when shift lever effort becomes sluggish.
