5-MINUTE DIY LANTERNS made from RED ENVELOPES | CHINESE NEW YEAR | SUPER EASY | Stapler only

Описание к видео 5-MINUTE DIY LANTERNS made from RED ENVELOPES | CHINESE NEW YEAR | SUPER EASY | Stapler only

This is part of our CHINESE NEW YEAR series! Today, we're going to be making 5 Minute DIY Chinese Lanterns made from Red Packets! This is a great way to reuse red pockets, red envelopes, lucky envelopes, hong bao packets you have laying around. Also how many ways are there to call these envelopes, my goodness.

We're using lucky envelopes/red packets/red envelopes/lai sees to make DIY lanterns that will only require a stapler to make. You can also use tape, glue, double sided tape, or even a hot glue gun, but I think the mini stapler is the easiest. It's that easy and you only need 5 minutes but they truly look so cute and pretty that it looks way harder than it is.

I can't take credit for the idea - it was Mary (my old colleague who sat next to me who taught me 5 moons ago). Thanks Mary!

Level: EASY for BEGINNERS
Age: 5+ (Adult supervision needed! Parents, you know what's best for your kids.)
Time: 15 mins

Materials for 1 Chinese lucky envelope lantern:
4 x lucky envelopes
1 x scrappy lucky envelope or a piece of thicker paper
Stapler
Ribbon
Scissors
1 x tassel

Steps:

Start | 0:00
1) Close the envelopes | 1:04
2) Make creases. Fold half length-wise and width-wise. | 1:26
3) Make creases. Fold all the corners into the halfway line. | 1:42
4) Put 2 envelopes back to back. Staple one corner together (2 staples on every corner). Do that with the 3rd envelope, so you've got 3 sides of the lantern attached. | 2:42
5) Make the ribbon & staple a piece of scrap paper so the ribbon won't fall out of the lantern | 3:00
6) Tuck the ribbon in. Staple the remaining envelope into place. | 3:48
7) Repeat the stapling on the bottom. Pause when you have 3 sides done. | 4:30
8) Prep the tassel: staple a piece of scrap paper so the tassel won't fall out of the lantern | 4:50
9) Staple the remaining envelope to finish the bottom | 5:25
10) Make slits halfway on the crease on the top | 6:20
11) Grab the flaps together and staple for each side | 6:55
12) Repeat on bottom. Make slits halfway on the crease on the bottom | 7:12
13) Grab the flaps together and staple on each side (bottom) | 7:40

An expat in Hong Kong recently sang their praises, “A Must Do! We have lived in Hong Kong for over a decade and still love to explore restaurants. We experienced authentic local restaurants in a district we'd never spent much time in previously. For a tourist it is a glimpse into local life, and for an expat it means finding another local gem to eat at. Some of the dishes presented were unlike others I had tasted in HK, unique seasonings, making it truly some of the best late night eats around. Even a local would weigh in on it being good!"
