📝 Description:
The remembrance of death is not meant to fill the soul with despair, but with repentance, humility, and wisdom. The Holy Fathers teach that when a person remembers death rightly, he begins to live rightly — no longer clinging to what is passing, but preparing for what is eternal.
Death, to the world, is an end. But to the faithful, it is the doorway to the Kingdom. It is the moment when the soul stands before its Creator — not to be destroyed, but to be judged, healed, and received according to its love for God.
Christ Himself showed sorrow before death in the Garden of Gethsemane, yet also perfect obedience to the Father’s will. His victory over death destroyed its sting, giving courage to all who follow Him in faith.
Let us therefore prepare our souls with repentance, mercy, and prayer, so that when the hour comes, we may say with peace:
“I trust in God, that He will have mercy on my lowliness.”
