Project Description:
You are a data analyst for a local university. At the end of each academic semester, you perform statistical analysis on student course evaluations. You want to analyze the results by calculating basic descriptive statistics. You also want to check for a correlation between student GPA and course opinion. Last, you will create three statistical charts to visualize your findings.
1 Start Excel. Download and open the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch08_ML1_CourseEvaluation.xlsx. Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the filename.
2 Use the FREQUENCY function in the range H5:H9 to calculate the frequency distribution of course evaluations from the range D4:D35 based on the frequency bins located in the range G5:G9.
3 Use the STDEV.S function to calculate the standard deviation between the current values of all course ratings in cell H12.
4 Use the VAR.S function to calculate the variance between the current values of course ratings in cell H13.
5 Use the CORREL function in cell G17 to calculate the correlation between GPA in the range C4:C35 and course evaluation in the range D4:D35.
6 Ensure the Analysis ToolPak is loaded. Create a descriptive statistics summary based on the course evaluations in column D. Ensure labels and summary statistics are included. Display the output in cell G19.
7 Insert a scatter plot with course rating as the x axis values and GPA as the y axis values. Be sure to add appropriate chart and axis labels.
8 Add a linear trend line to the scatter plot with the equation and R-square displayed on the chart.
9 Position the chart so the upper-left corner is in cell J4 and move the equation displayed on the chart to the upper-left corner of the plot area.
10 Insert a box and whisker chart based on the GPA values located in column C. Add an appropriate chart title and delete the x axis label. Place the chart so the upper-left corner is in cell J19.
11 Insert a histogram based on course ratings located in column D. Add an appropriate chart title and position the chart so the upper-left corner is in cell R4.
