Mughal Tahkhana ( Persian : تاهخانا ), or Shah Sujar Tahkhana is a three-story royal palace. Tohakhana is a Persian word, which literally means cold building or palace. The building structure on the west bank of a large pond in the Pirojpur area of Gaur-Lakhnauti is traditionally known as Tohakhana. About 35 km from Chapainawabganj . The traditional Tohakhana Complex or Tohakhana is located in the Shahbazpur Union of Shibganj Upazila . [

The building was constructed by Sultan Shah Shuja of Bengal as a thermal control building at Pirojpur for winter buses for his Murshid Syed Neyamatullah . From time to time Shah Suja also used to come and live here. According to various historical sources, Shah Suja, the son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan , was the subaddar of Bengal. [2] It is said that when Shah Shuja came to Pirojpur to meet Morshed Shah Neyamtullah, he lived in a spacious room in the middle of the building. [3]Inside the Tohakhana complex, there are many unmarked tombs. Whose identities are not yet known. However, they are considered to be the servants or companions of Hazrat Shah Syed Neyamtullah.
GaurSuch ancient architecture is not to be found anywhere else except in Tahkhana. The two-story building is basically made of brick. However, black stone has been used for the door frame and wooden beams for the flat roof. Looking at the building from the west, it looks like a one-storey building, but from the east, it looks like a two-storey structure, with rooms on the ground floor extended to the east and arches rising directly from the reservoir. Its roof and walls are made of concrete. Both the mosque and the tahkhana are 'Dafe-ul-Balah'. Located next to the reservoir called. Two paved stairs extend to the bottom of the reservoir. There are two more buildings on the northwest side of the main palace. The nearest of these is a mosque with three domes and the other is a domed tomb with paved verandah. The buildings were built around a specific goal at about the same time and together they can be considered as a complex. The tunnels created from the houses have expanded and established direct contact with the reservoir. One to the west of the buildingThere is a hammam (bathroom) with an octagonal well for water supply. To the north of the palace is a small family mosque. Behind it is an open house attached to an octagonal fort. This tower room was probably used for meditation. This octagonal minaret completes the Tahkhana complex. These decorative styles are of Mughal architecture . The Tahkhana complex is important for Mughal-style architectural monuments in the Sultanate-era city. This is the first such architecture in Bengal. After the introduction of such complexes, such palaces, mosques or mausoleum complexes in Dhaka and Murshidabad became a common practice.
