In this video we’ll show how to make a Sony Venice accept external Timecode and Genlock

Turn on all your Lockit devices, choose one of them to be the Master Clock – then press-and-hold the green button to broadcast timecode and framerate through ACN and you are set.

Let’s start with Timecode.

Make sure all cameras and Lockits run on the same frame rate.

In the TC Menu choose Preset Free Run as the TC Mode.

For this camera you need an LTC-Out Timceode cable.

Connect it to the BNC TC IN port

Now the camera accepts the external Timecode source – indicated by the “Externally Locked” sign next to the Timecode.

Now let’s take a look at the Genlock.

In the Lockit Menu set to Sync output to the correct value. Keep in mind that the Venice expects an interlaced Trilevel signal in most cases - even when you are shooting with a progressive rate. PsF will do the trick for single rates.

In the camera’s full menu – which requires a long press on the menu button – navigate to “Technical” – then Genlock. Choose “Analog” as input source.

For the genlock sync you need an extra cable - the SYNC-OUT

Connect it to the BNC Genlock Connector.

Now the camera accepts the external Genlock Signal – indicated by the Genlock Sign next to the Timecode.
