Optimized Assembly Through Automation: Böllhoff Production Ltd. I Kardex Case Study

Böllhoff Production Ltd. is a leading supplier of joining and assembly technology. Faced with the challenge of manual processes within its intralogistics, Böllhoff sought to digitize and automate its operations to improve efficiency, reduce labor, and streamline workflow. The goal was to save valuable floor space and ensure the proper storage of both raw materials used in production and finished goods awaiting shipment.

To achieve this goal, Böllhoff entered into a collaboration with Kardex, Bito Lagertechnik and P.S. Cooperation. The solution developed consists of

• two Kardex Miniload-in-a-Box for fully automated and space-saving storage and retrieval of raw materials and finished goods
• 9 LEO locative AGVs for a fully automated transport of the goods between the Kardex Miniload-in-a-Box and the assembly stations
• the el/ka/sy system to coordinate warehouse management

This warehouse automation solution includes a space-saving 30h buffer, enables automated and central storage and retrieval and reduces manual processes and operator walking distances to a minimum.
