In this video I am sharing one of the most delicious meal, "Mata ka Prasad" which is very easy to make yet so flavorful. SOOJI KA HALWA:
Ingredients
Sooji/Semilina- 1 cup
Sugar- 1 cup
Ghee/Clarified butter- 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder- 1/4 tsp
Almonds- 1/4 cup (soaked and cut into small pieces)
Water- 2 1/4 cup
Heat ghee in a pan and put sooji in it. Keep on stirring until the sooji turns golden brown. In the meantime while sooji is being roasted, heat water in a vessel and put sugar and cardomom powder. Keep stirring occasionally until the sugar is fully dissolved. Do not boil the water. As soon as the sooji turns golden brown, put the hot water little by little stirring continuously. Keep on cooking the halwa on medium to low heat stirring continuously until it turns into desired consistency. Turn off the flame and pour the halwa in a serving dish. Garnish it with chopped almonds on top and and serve hot. Enjoy!!
KALE CHANE
Ingredients
Kale chane(Brown chickpea)- 2 cups, boiled
Jeera- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Salt- 1/2 tsp or as per taste
Red chili powder- 1/4 tsp
Dhania (coriander)powder- 1 tbsp
Jeera (cumin)powder- 1/4 tsp
Kitchen king masala- 1/2 tsp
Amchur powder- 1/2 tsp
Oil- 2 tbsp
How to soak and boil Kale Chane
Take a big vessel and put kale chane. Wash the chane nicely with water 3-4 times. Now soak the chane in atleast 4-5 inches water above the chana level. Let the chane soak overnight. To boil, drain the water and put chane in the pressure cooker. Add water atleast 2-3 inches above the chana level and close the lid. Once whistle comes, lower the flame and let it cook for atleast 30-35 minutes. Now the kale chane are ready to use.
To make Mata ka Prasad waale Chane, heat oil in a pan and put cumin seeds. Once seeds start to crackle add turmeric powder and stir. Now add boiled kale chane without the water. Stir for a minute or two so that excess water is gone. Put salt and all the dry masalas except amchur powder and mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the chane are well coated in masala and there is no water left in the chana. Lastly put amchur powder and mix well. Kale chane are now ready to be served !!
POORI
Ingredients
Atta(whole wheat flour)- 2 cups
Salt- 1/2 tsp
Oil- 2 tbsp, plus 1 tsp for finishing touch
Water- little less than 1 cup (or as needed to make a firm dough)
To make poori dough, put flour in a bowl. Add salt and oil and mix well. Now add water little by little as you mix the flour with your hands to knead it into a firm dough. Don’t add much water as we want a firm dough and not soft for pooris. To finish, add a small amount of oil and knead. Set the finished dough aside for 5-10 minutes before you roll it into pooris.
To make pooris, make small balls out the dough. Before rolling each ball with a rolling pin into 2.5-3” of round pooris add 1-2 drops of oil on the rolling board so that the dough doesn’t stick and it’s easy to roll as well. In the meantime, heat oil in a deep frying pan. As the oil heats up, fry the pooris golden brown on high flame. Pooris are ready to be served !!
