It doesn't matter how small place is, if it's a civil parish, I'm coming to it. Today's parish sees us in perhaps the smallest on the channel yet. Bassetlaw is full of these tiny ones, but none much smaller than this estate village, made up of literally one street!

There's some things of interest still though, even in a place as small as this. There's a pub which is apparently very popular when it comes to food, and an ice cream parlour next door if you feel like afters, based in a converted farm building, and using Jersey milk to make it's frozen goodness.

The village also has a Hall, hidden away behind the trees, but the fact that it exists is why the village is here today, although the Romans were here centuries beforehand because there's an old Roman fort located in a field just outside the village, despite there being no evidence of any buildings.

Moving away from the village the parish boundary is the River Idle, but it was only defined as such in 1991, when the boundary was moved. The very end of this video sees us take a few steps over the border into Doncaster, onto land that used to be Nottinghamshire territory, and Bawtry bridge is a fine example of how one structure can change over time.

One of TVI's shortest, but certainly not the least interesting, here is the tiny village of SCAFTWORTH.
