On May 21, 2025, the Hon'ble Supreme Court delivered a powerful verdict quashing the Madhya Pradesh Government’s order that allowed IAS officers like District Collectors and Commissioners to write the Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) of IFS officers up to the rank of Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF).

✅ Only senior IFS officers from the Forest Department can now act as reporting/reviewing/accepting authorities.
✅ The MP order was found to violate previous SC judgments including Santosh Bharti and TN Godavarman cases.
