Dream of the Unknown

I dream of mostly nothing,
A black unending space.
No time, no sound, no movement...
Just absence in its place.

I see nothing before me,
I touch nothing at all.
Am I even here breathing,
Or did I never exist at all?

There’s no light to guide me,
No shadow to define.
If I am nowhere drifting,
What was ever mine?

This dream of the unknown,
Is it where I belong?
Am I lost beyond forever,
Or was I never strong?

There’s nothing here to hold me,
No heaven left to find...
Just endless dark surrounding
What’s left of mind.

I don’t hear a whisper,
I don’t feel the air.
What kind of dream is this
When nothing’s even there?

Dreams are filled with color,
With terror, hope, and light,
But this is only hollow,
A swallowing of night.

I am not in pain or pleasure,
Yet something feels undone.
If nothing here can harm me,
Why do I feel I run?

If I am dead, then tell me,
Where is the afterlife?
Were those promises just stories
To soften mortal strife?

This dream of the unknown ,
Is it death or deeper sleep?
Am I falling without motion
Through something vast and deep?

No voice to answer back,
No sign to let me see.
If nothing truly exists here,
Then what remains of me?

Why am I afraid
If nothing here is real?
Why does my chest grow heavy
If nothing’s left to feel?

I am nothing, in nothing,
Yet somehow still aware.

And that may be the terror,
That consciousness is there.

Suddenly I’m crying,
Tears fall down my face.
My heart begins racing
In this empty place.

I hear myself choking,
Yet still I cannot see.
If everything is nothing,
Why is this happening to me?

This dream of the unknown
Is tearing through my mind.
A darkness without boundary,
No past or future line.

No time, no ground, no body,
Just thought that cannot flee…
And then a single memory
Breaks violently through me.

A ceiling, a pillow.
A trembling in my hands.

My lungs pull air like fire
As the darkness cracks and bends.

My eyes fly open,
Face buried in my bed.
Still shaking…
Still crying…
But not among the dead.

Was it only just a nightmare,
Or something I passed through?

If nothingness was endless,
And fear was still there too...

Then even in the absence,
Even in the void…
Something inside me...
Refused to be destroyed.
