In this video, Keith Barker covers an overview of the CompTIA CSA+ Threat Management certification exam. He uses a hands-on approach to walk students through the threat management objectives covered by the test, including environmental and network reconnaissance, how to secure corporate environments, and how to respond to security threats.

Keith kicks off the video with a discussion of “hack value,” which is the idea that something is interesting enough to spend the time and energy to exploit that target.

If something doesn’t have enough hack value (real or perceived), then the risk of it being hacked goes down quickly. It simply isn’t worth the time, energy, or resources for a black hat to attack.

On the other side of the spectrum is a vulnerability, which is essentially a measure of how easy a system is to attack.

Keith sets the basis for the knowledge base you’ll need to have by exploring these and other terms, then builds on this foundational understanding to get you ready for the exam.
