Ive received a couple of requests for tips on how to flip your grip! The first flip grip I learned was in king pigeon, and wow was it an intense stretch. Not only do you need shoulder and back flexibility, you need hip flexibility of both outer hips and hip flexors/quadriceps as well.

Here are a couple of stretches to help you work more comfortably into this pose. Follow along with this video (recommended to compliment with "Backbends for Beginners")

What you'll need:
2 blocks, 1 yoga strap (or scarf/belt/towel...), blanket/pillows, yoga mat, wall

Pose sequence:
1. Seated spinal warm-ups
2. Extended Puppy stretch
3. Cobra lifts
4. Sphinx + hip flexor stretches
5. Seated Shoulder stretch with strap
6. Pigeon + lifts
7. king arthur hip flexor stretch
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Pigeon backbend prep with wall
10. Pigeon flip grip with strap
11. Pigeon flip grip full pose

Flexibility takes time for the body to open up, be patient and concentrate on feeling the stretch rather than achieving the pose.
