Passing Pattern | Switching Play

Objective: Teaching the players to draw the opposition to one side (ball side), creating space for us to progress with a quick switch.

Set up:

✅ Full sized pitch

✅ 2 x sets of 11 mannequins (you can use poles or cones)

✅ 11 players in your formation (for more than 11 players, rotate players in specific positions each time the drill restarts

Instructions:

✔️ Ball starts from a goal kick where the GK will play out to the CB, they will play to the RB and they will drive forward and engage the first dummy formation in Blue (they are doing this to draw the opposition across the pitch)

✔️ The ball is then switched to the LB, who drives forward to gain yards on the non busy side, eventually engaging the second dummy formation in Yellow (this simulates the opposition moving diagonally in their block)

✔️ The ball is then switched from left to right again to finish with a goal. Allow the players to be creative here. Reset from here back at the goal keeper
