How To Remove / Replace Clock Spring Cable Reel + Steering Wheel & Airbag Honda Accord 2003-2007

Описание к видео How To Remove / Replace Clock Spring Cable Reel + Steering Wheel & Airbag Honda Accord 2003-2007

This is a step-by-step tutorial & DIY auto repair guide on how to remove, replace & install clock spring also known as cable reel on 2003-2007 Honda Accord (which is the same for years 2004, 2005 & 2006 Models DX LX & EX) by young mechanic Aiman. The clock spring has the wiring which controls the Horn, Cruise Control, and the Radio Controls on the steering wheel.

The process involved removing first the airbag, followed by the steering wheel. It only requires simple general tools except for the TX30 star type socket or screwdriver.

The steps are actually not too difficult, only a few basic tools are required but if you are not too comfortable dealing with airbags then you should consult or have it repaired by qualified automotive technicians or auto repair shops and garages or auto dealership.

Some of the tools you might need would be flat head & phillip screwdrivers, T30 star / torx wrenches and basic sockets / ratchet. No power tools are required. Most of the electrical connectors can be unsnapped easily.

Word of caution is make sure you disconnect the battery first, wait a few minutes (20 minutes or longer is highly encouraged), and avoid possible static discharge via clothing or other possible methods. Once you unplug the airbag itself, it can't go off. There's a shorting bar built into the connector of all airbags, that joins the two terminals to prevent "stray" voltage from being able to set the bag off.

In most cases, once you've removed the airbag and center bolt, the steering wheel can just be wiggled or pulled out. However, in some cases, wheel puller tools have to be used in order to remove the stubborn steering wheel (we used Bolt Type Wheel Puller Set 46-Piece by Pittsburgh Automotive from Harbor Freight Tools, and we've also done an exclusive video on how to do that, click here for that video:

This video was done a 2004 Honda Accord, however, the process may be the same for most Honda or Acura models such as Civic, CRV, Element, Pilot and Odyssey. Even if it's not exactly the same as they will be some variances between the years and model, it may still give you a rough idea on how to do it on the vehicles manufactured by Honda.
