Avatar Flight of Passage opened on May 27, 2017, as part of the grand opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar, a land dedicated to bringing the world of James Cameron's Avatar to life. This highly advanced 3D flight simulator ride allows guests to experience the sensation of flying, as they are linked to an Avatar and embark on a thrilling journey across the floating mountains, lush forests, and expansive oceans of Pandora. The ride’s combination of cutting-edge technology, immersive visuals, and a compelling storyline has made it one of the most popular and acclaimed attractions at Walt Disney World.

As you enter the attraction, you’ll pass through themed environments that set the stage for your journey, including a Na’vi-built rainforest and the Rookery, where banshees are raised. The queue is filled with detailed sets, artifacts, and interactive elements that immerse you in the lore of Pandora and the Na’vi culture. Once you board your link chair, you’ll be transported to the world of Pandora, where the breathtaking beauty and thrilling adventure await.

Pandora -The World of Avatar is inspired by James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar, which was groundbreaking in its use of visual effects and 3D technology. The film is set on the alien moon of Pandora, where humans seek to mine valuable resources, leading to a conflict with the indigenous Na’vi people. Avatar was a massive success, becoming the highest-grossing film of all time until it was surpassed by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

In addition to the ride, guests can explore other attractions in Pandora - The World of Avatar, such as the Na'vi River Journey, and enjoy themed dining and shopping experiences. Fans of the Avatar franchise will also be excited to know that during the D23 Expo 2024, Disney announced new Avatar attractions coming to Disneyland California, further expanding the presence of this beloved franchise in the Disney parks.
