May 2025 trip to Mount Kailash in Tibet - more hiking, less time in vehicles

If you write Roger at [email protected], he will email you a packet of information. Be sure to mention that you want to go on the early May 2025 trip to Mt. Kailash. Once the trip fills up, and not before, he will ask for a deposit. Once all of the deposits are in, the trip can proceed.

There are many videos on YouTube about the Gosaikunda trek. If you find one that you particularly like, you are welcome to post it in the comments. One woman made a movie that only shows where she stayed. If you need reassurance about the quality of lodging, have a look:    • UNFILTERED Look Inside ALL of My GOSA...  . I note that in Tibet a few hotels will be much better and nothing will be a lot worse.

GEAR

Your body is the piece of gear that needs the most maintenance. Do everything you can to get in the best shape physically and mentally you can before the trip. As Roger says in the description, day 3 is a "Strong Day." So kindly be ready to, as they say, hit the ground running.
The more people travel, the fussier they become with gear.
I really don't like drinking out of plastic bottles so I carry a water filter. I carried this filter in 2024 in Nepal, India, and Thailand and never got sick. https://grayl.com/collections/feature.... If you don't have a water filter, you will be fine, but you'll be opening a lot of plastic bottles.

Kathmandu is a great place to buy gear. But I'd advise you to come with shoes that are well worn-in and two pairs of sunglasses. One pair will be a spare. On my 2024 trip, I ended up giving my spare pair to our driver after a fellow hiker was done with them. Many people carry a sleeping bag because they don't like the idea of sleeping between sheets of questionable cleanliness. I'm not one of those people. If you are, bring a sleeping bag.
