The idea of a "Dub Talk" has been with Escape the city festival since it's humble beginnings. Conceived as a conversation with the great minds of the outernational soundsystem culture, done in the orrriginal Escape the city style & fashion.

It took us waaaay long enough to actually put it all together and do it - but here we are.

Our first Dub Talk featuring master Nick Manasseh reading his personal meditations on the late, great Jah Shaka!
A compelling, immersive and intimate story of his memories of the Great Zulu Warrior, followed by a captivating and dynamic interview hosted by our very own Damien Prophet.

Manasseh dives into the London soundsystem culture of the mid-80s and how Shaka shaped the sounds and minds of generations to come. How his musical and spiritual legacy reverberated around the world and took shape in the soundsystem we know and love today.

We also take a trip into Manasseh's own musical upbringing, legendary productions, his time on pirate radio KISS FM, the session with a snake in Belgrade and many other (mis)adventures of playing music all around the world for over 30 years.
