At the tail end of Real Madrid's Galácticos era, one signing stood out as particularly unexpected and insane: that of Thomas Gravesen. The Danish midfielder's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2005 left many scratching their heads, as he seemed to be a far cry from the glamorous superstars typically associated with the Galácticos. However, Gravesen quickly proved his worth with his tenacity, work rate, and no-nonsense approach to the game, something that Real Madrid was lacking in their midfield.

Prior to his arrival, he was a well-respected midfielder for Everton, but had a reputation of being a bit of a wild man.
