Have you had Five Element Acupuncture before? Five Element Acupuncture treatments are very different from traditional acupuncture where needles are left in place and you are left in a room to relax for thirty minutes. A Five Element Acupuncture practitioner never leaves the room, and the entirety of the treatment is interactive and personal.

The first appointment is two hours and is devoted to gathering comprehensive personal, family, and medical history. Follow up appointments are one hour. Each treatment is customized specifically for you. No two treatments are alike, just as no two patients are alike.

We start every session by discussing how you are feeling and any changes you have experienced. Next I take pulses to determine which acupuncture points to use. After that I located the acupuncture points. We measure points to make sure we are exactly in the correct location. There are generally five acupuncture points per treatment.

An herb called moxa is warmed on the acupuncture points. This therapy is called moxibustion. This is used to enhance the point's effects and nourish and support the immune system. After moxa I needle the point. Needles stay in for just a moment. In most cases, it is a quick in and out!

Lastly, I check the pulses again to make sure we have achieved the response we are seeking.

Generally patients come in once a week for four to five weeks then start to taper off treatments. By addressing the root cause symptoms start to dissipate.
