Take Five is considered to be the most popular jazz composition of all time. There's not too much to say about it, except I personally find it quite challenging to commit to a recording. Not so much that it's in 5/4 time, but playing it solo piano requires a fair amount of built-in swing feel in addition to the 5/4 time. Lots of people play it with more of a straight 8th feel, but I like to swing it as much as possible. It's certainly not something that I picked up overnight but have been playing around with odd time signatures for years. The only thing I hope to do with this tune is to make music, not overplay it, and try not to step on my own toes 🤔
