Many Magic The Gathering players ask the question: Is it worth it to buy a Rookie Deck? Rookie Decks are made by the famous Card Kingdom, with brand new players in mind.

Let’s take a look!

What are Rookie Decks?

Rookie Decks are simple 60-card decks, made primarily for new players of Magic The Gathering. Containing commons and uncommons, like Battle Decks they are not a part of any specific format, but unlike Battle Decks they are constructed not from draft archetypes, but instead with the very basics of gameplay in mind.

These decks give players a chance to experience the game in a clear and entertaining way. Instead of highlighting mechanics from the new set, each deck is crafted around a single keyword with color defining spells and creatures, giving new players a sense of each color’s capabilities.

Before I even delve into the cards themselves, these learner inserts are really great. To be learning magic and have this little reminder sheet next to you on a bright, clear, and best fo all easy to parse card is something really helpful to new players.

Follow, remember, and learn turn order easily, and be able to review the key color mechanics not only of your deck, but of each color with these little study guides.
