Veteran reporter Dan Rather visited Kent State University on Friday as a part of the dedication to a portion of the college's campus into the National Historic Landmarks.

May 4 marks the anniversary of 1970, where protesting students, observers and soldiers gathered, before the Ohio National Guard shot and killed four students and wounded nine others.

The 86 year old Rather talked to members of the press prior to the dedication of the land, where he answered questions about his career, this day in history, and on the state of America currently.
