Today I set out on a quest to find out if there are catchable fish in the Virgin River. I'm sure many anglers like me have seen the Virgin River as seemingly barren of aquatic life other than the occasional small "minnows" or whatever they are.

If you plan to fish the Virgin River, please be prepared to safely release the Virgin River Chub and other endangered species.
If you can't identify the species, assume it is endangered and release it properly back into the water.
I don't recommend using baited hooks as there is a strong chance you will gut hook any fish that eats it and I doubt you will keep any river fish caught as they are small.

We need to protect the few fish remaining in the river or they may eventually disappear altogether.

Don't dump your pet fish in the river as this may kill off the Virgin River Chub due to competition for food or the state may have to kill all fish in a section of the river to get rid of the non-native fish but at the same time killing the ones we want to keep especially because they are rare.
