Reinstated Edo Deputy Gov Resumes Duty, Directs Staff To Follow Suit

Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has resumed his duties and instructed his staff to return to work immediately. He emphasized that any financial transactions conducted by banks with the Office of the Deputy Governor without his consent would be illegal. Shaibu also stressed that his position was never vacant, as confirmed by a recent Federal High Court ruling.

In his address, Shaibu expressed sorrow over the recent killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate, an incident that occurred upon his return to the state. He mentioned that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. Shaibu also noted that he has formally requested the state governor to reinstate his aides but is still awaiting a response.

How can he resume office when there’s a pending application for stay of execution of the judgment pending appeal?
This is pure illegality, and utter contempt of the majesty of the Court of Appeal before which the application is pending
