Soybean Harvest 1996 in Minnesota

October 6th 1996. Some video of my Dad harvesting soybeans with his 1968 John Deere 45 combine. The combine was bought used in 1974.

This was 2nd to last fall harvest before he retired.

The tractor and disc are a 1989 Belarus 562 and 1960s Minneapolis Moline. I was driving my 1987 Ford Ranger in those days.

Dad farmed with 4 row equipment on 36" rows. This was just before GMO soybeans came out so there is some volunteer corn in the field you would not usually see in fields now. In years prior, we'd have hand weeded the beans (walking the beans), but the later years there was not enough help for that.
