Why Expensive Denim is So Hairy. (Tanuki Red Cast Jacket)

Levi's started off this whole jeans thing in the early days. Back then their selvedge denim was not from Japan nor was anything on them Japanese. HOWEVER since that time, Japanese selvedge denim (raw of course, or one wash, unsanforized, or sanforized) has dominated the space. WHY you may be asking? Well they loved the old stuff so they made sure to keep it alive. Just like food keeps me alive.

Today we are looking at the Tanuki Red Cast Jacket in 16.5oz raw selvedge denim, a beauty to behold! A magnificent piece of art! So why is it so hairy? Why aren't Levi 501's hairy? What isn't a Levi's denim jacket so hairy? Why am I trying to use that brand name so much in the description?!
