Kamakshi Swarajathi - Bhairavi

Описание к видео Kamakshi Swarajathi - Bhairavi

Presenting an excerpt from Kamakshi Swarajathi composed by Sri Shyama Sastri whose lyrically rich compositions are marked by profound Bhakti towards goddess Bangaru Kamakshi.

The choreography by Guru Smt Saradha Sethuraman aims to bring together Dr Padma’s vision for music and dance, with Smt. MS Subbulakshmi’s matchless rendition.

In this choreography, the primary and secondary usages of karanas are utilised to bring out the word and sentence meanings.

For the final swaram, the choreography is based on the 97th shloka of the Saundaryalahari authored by Sri Adi Shankaraacharya. It depicts Sarasvati, Durga and Mahalakshmi as manifestations of Kamakshi, who is Mahamaaya, the primordial force responsible for srishti.

The composer's mudra in the final sahityam also contains a reference to her birth as the sister of Shyama Krishna, who reveals her true self as YogaMaaya to Kamsa during his attempt to kill her.
