Police body-camera footage documents two separate vehicle pursuits involving the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office that both ended with suspects taken into custody.
In the first incident, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling 85 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone on Tilley Road. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled. The pursuit ended when the vehicle struck a telephone pole at low speed. The driver was arrested, and the passenger was treated for minor injuries. Deputies later obtained a search warrant after observing a large bag of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A firearm and evidence of drug distribution were also located.
In the second incident, TCSO assisted Centralia Police Department with a pursuit traveling northbound on Interstate 5. The driver was suspected of DUI and was wanted on existing warrants. Deputies deployed spike strips, and a K9-assisted PIT maneuver was used to disable the vehicle. The suspect was arrested without further incident and turned over to Centralia PD.
