We made it to our next country on our Southeast Asia backpacking trip: Vietnam! Our first stop is Hanoi, which we have been looking forward to visit.
Hanoi, the capital and arguably the most vibrant city in the country, is the perfect gateway to start your Vietnam trip. The city blends Southeast Asian, French, and Chinese influences, with the Old Quarter at its heart. This bustling district, filled with narrow winding streets, is a haven for street food lovers and those wanting to experience authentic Vietnamese life.

In today’s video, we will take you on a walking tour of the Old Quarter, our favorite part of Hanoi and a place that can easily captivate you for days. Beyond the historic charm and colonial architecture, coffee lovers will enjoy Hanoi’s cozy cafes. A must-try is the infamous Egg Coffee! Most of the city is best explored on foot, letting you fully soak in the atmosphere. We ended our first day with an unforgettable street food tour of Hanoi, where we sampled the city’s finest dishes and discovered some hidden spots tucked away in the most surprising spots!
