The following video is intended to explain and demonstrate how to operate the newest release in our MIDAS Series. Our goal is to promote safety and ease of use throughout.

Power factor, dissipation factor, or tan delta testing is a way to evaluate the losses of electrical insulation of transformers, bushings, motors, generators, and more. Periodic maintenance and inspection of these apparatus is needed to ensure continued serviceability.

Today's MIDAS micro is the lightest, fastest, and easiest to use instrument on the market, with several features to ensure the safety of both the equipment and, more importantly, operating personnel.

The MIDAS micro is an all-in-one power factor tester that includes a 12kV power supply, standard capacitor, and guided interface that makes tests quick and easy to perform.

The MIDAS micro comes in a lightweight and rugged single piece case included with wheels for easy transport.

Its built-in touch-screen controller avoids the need for an external PC connection. Its Guide mode steps the user through a complete test - from DUT definition, to test sequence generation and performance prompt, to analysis of results.

In addition to an emergency stop button, the MIDAS is equipped with an external dead-man type safety switch which must be held down prior to testing to allow for high voltage to be turned on.

For visual warning of high voltage, a warning lamp bar is located on the top side of the display screen, as well as an optional external strobe light.

The MIDAS micro is equipped with an HV ground connection surveillance which allows high voltage to be switched on only when a proper ground connection has been made to the unit.

State-of-the-art noise suppression technology ensures stable and repeatable results under all conditions.
