We visited one of the hardest-hit areas and spent time with Dale, a remarkably positive man who has witnessed and continues to experience the storm’s long-lasting effects. Recovery is a long and challenging road, but Dale’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of community.

Dale shared with us some traditional methods for getting through tough times, like the canning parties he and his neighbors organized when the power went out. They turned hardship into an opportunity to enjoy meals together while preserving food for the future—a powerful reminder of the strength found in preparedness and community.
