City of Sierra Vista: Environmental Stewardship and Municipal Partnerships

Описание к видео City of Sierra Vista: Environmental Stewardship and Municipal Partnerships

With strong government leadership, Sierra Vista is a vibrant, forward-thinking 21st Century City. This well managed City maximizes community partnerships to ensure that its programs, services and facilities meet community needs and are delivered in the most cost effective way possible.

The City is one of only a few communities in the country who provides municipal services to a military installation, including library, fleet, transit, traffic signal maintenance, infrastructure investment in the joint-use airfield, and residential refuse and recycling.

Sierra Vista is committed to conservation and environmental stewardship. Its industry-leading wastewater treatment facility recharges more water to the aquifer than adjacent Fort Huachuca pumps annually. Sierra Vista’s award-winning compost program is the only municipally-run compost facility in the state, diverting 5,000 tons of material from the landfill annually.

The City has implemented energy- and water-conservation technology at City facilities, and requires new development to meet stringent water conservation goals. It is the first city in the nation to be a designated a WaterSense community by the EPA.
