IIT prof's message to parents of JEE aspirants

This video is meant for the parents of those students who have appeared in JEE Advanced.

The decision to go into a particular engineering stream or to join a particular institute is one of the most important decisions that students take. The deliberations start immediately after JEE Advanced. Often parents are heavily involved in this decision-making process.

While parents are the greatest well-wishers of the students, sometimes unwillingly parents may end up making some mistakes in their enthusiasm to help their children.

I divide my discussion for two groups of parents: first those parents who do not consider the prospects of pay packages as the most important criterion; second, those who do.

The biggest help that parents can provide to their children is to provide their unflinching support. While the students may face a lot of comments and adverse opinions from various sources, they need should be given full support by their parents. The biggest mistake the parents can make is not to listen to their children.
