A man wearing Batman pajamas sprang into action and stopped an alleged burglar.

A Florida man sprang into action in his Batman pajamas after his wife's phone alerted them to suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

"I was sleeping, and my wife was coming out of the bathroom, and she noticed an alert on the phone," Kyle Myvett said when speaking to WBBH.

Myvett jumped out of bed at around 2 a.m., got into his truck, and drove around his southeast Cape Coral neighborhood. He discovered a possible burglar in his neighbor's garage and intervened.

"I got a hold of their shirt and their right wrist, and I told him, I said, listen, don't try to get away," Myvett recounted.

Nehilah Grand-Pierre reported that Myvett described the neighborhood as usually calm, which led him to leave his vehicle unlocked. This allowed the suspect to steal more than $800 worth of personal items from him and his neighbor.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested Justin Schimpl, who allegedly took two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, a wrist wallet, and more than $500 worth of gift cards.

"This is a crime of opportunity. People are leaving their doors unlocked so people can get inside and steal their items," Lisa Greenberg from the Cape Coral Police said when speaking to WBBH.

Myvett, a contractor by day and hero by night, humorously noted, "I don't have a Superman pajama because he's kind of, you know, if you're impervious and invincible, you're not really brave," per the outlet.

Schimpl is facing charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, petit theft, and burglary of an occupied dwelling.
