This was incredible. I visited Swaminath Akhara in the summer of 2024 during the famous cobra festival in Varanasi. India is famous for kushti wrestling, or mud wrestling. The competitions are often referred to as Dangal competitions. Mud wrestling is slightly different than mat wrestling as the durations are longer and there's less restrictions. The idea is to get the opponent on their back. I, once again, go into the mitti (mud) pit to wrestle with the trainer of this akhada. We wrestle and tumble and then he shows me some key take downs. Furthermore, I explore the rest of this akhada and witness their new mudgar clubs, jori clubs, and gada. Fantastic experience with the help of ‪@GyanIndianJori‬ .
