Melamchi River मेलम्चि खोला is a tributary of the Indrawati River. It originates from the Jugal Himal at an elevation of about 5,875 m (19,275 ft) above sea level. It joins the Indrawati River at Melamchi Bazaar. The Melamchi River is 41 km (25 mi) long and has a catchment area of 330 km2 (130 sq mi) up to the confluence. The river flows southwards and widens downstream.
Melamchi Water Supply Project in the river diverts water from the river to Kathmandu for drinking.
Melamchi is a municipality in Sindhupalchok District in the Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, it had a population of 3,936 and had 710 houses in the village.
