The Mysterious Gold of Victorio Peak: Doc Noss’ Billion-Dollar Discovery! | Treasure or Curse?
The Billion-Dollar Gold of Victorio Peak | Uncovering Victorio Peak’s Treasure | What Lies Beneath Victorio Peak?" The Truth Behind Victorio Peak’s Hidden Gold | What Lies Beneath Victorio Peak?
In the heart of the New Mexico desert, hidden beneath the jagged peaks of Victorio Peak, lies a mystery that has captured the imagination of treasure hunters, historians, and adventurers for nearly a century. This is the tale of a buried treasure worth billions of dollars, a treasure that has been sought by many but discovered by few—if any.
The story begins in 1880, when the legendary Apache Chief Victorio used the area as a stronghold, resisting the U.S. Army and fiercely protecting his people. After a battle with the Buffalo Soldiers, Victorio disappeared into the vast desert, leaving behind a trail of mystery and rumored gold. But it wasn't until the 1930s that the secret of Victorio Peak would be uncovered by an unlikely man—Milton Ernest "Doc" Noss.
Doc Noss, a rugged adventurer with a taste for the unknown, was out on a deer hunt in 1937 when he stumbled upon a hidden shaft beneath the base of Victorio Peak. This would lead him to an underground treasure hoard that seemed to come straight out of a legend. Inside the cave, he discovered gold bars, coins, jeweled swords, and priceless artifacts, including a gold statue of the Virgin Mary. But that was just the beginning. The cave also held the grim remains of human skeletons, tied to stakes, possibly the victims of the ruthless Apache raids led by Chief Victorio.
As Doc and his wife, Babe Noss, began retrieving the treasure, they soon realized that the wealth hidden inside Victorio Peak was far greater than they ever imagined. But the story took a dark turn. The treasure was immense, yet Doc could not sell it due to the Gold Act of 1933, which made private ownership of gold illegal. With the law against him and paranoia creeping in, Doc became obsessed, hiding the treasure in secret locations and even filing legal claims on the land to protect his discovery.
But as Doc’s obsession grew, so did the tension around him. His marriage with Babe fell apart, and after a deadly confrontation with a man named Charles Ryan, Doc’s treasure hunt ended tragically with his murder in 1949. Though Babe continued to fight for ownership of the treasure, her attempts were thwarted by the U.S. military, who took control of the area as part of the White Sands Missile Range.
