[The stars are lamps]: Here, the kanji suggested they were specifically Arabian lamps.
[That shapeless romance]: Think adventure romance, not lovers romance. Three Musketeers, not Romeo and Juliet.
[Radiance that rivals even the suns]: more literally, that wont lose to the sun.
-arabesque: Form of Islamic Art (repeating geometric-like patterns of animals, people, etc.), search for it on wiki.
-sitar: Indian string instrument similar to a guitar.
