Fifty years after scoring their first victory at Le Mans with the GT40 Mk II, Ford returned to Le Mans with the GT40-inspired, Eco-Boost powered Ford GT for competition in the GTE-Pro category, as well as US IMSA racing in the GTLM category. Campaigned by Chip Ganassi racing, the car scored class wins at Le Mans in 2016, and the 24 hours of Daytona in 2017 and 2018.
This build depicts the 2019 Castrol Ford GT of Ryan Briscoe, Scott Dixon, Richard Westbrook.
It this video I will show how to upgrade the rear defuser with the thinner sharper Classic Racing Resins rear diffuser. The Revell kit looks great. There are some mold lines that will need to be sanded out, but that is typical in model building. I recommend cleaning the body as it seemed a bit oily. Clean with tire bleach and scrub down with a fine scratchpad and be sure to prime the body before applying color. This fit of the kit is acceptable, I highly recommend test fitting. If you aren't in a hurry, I'd recommend building the chassis up, first, then test fit the body before any painting. Not seen in the video, is I had trouble fitting the body onto the chassis. But all-in-all the car looks nice, built up.
