Hello everyone, because our new Balisong is more complicated than our previous works, so this time we prepared a introductory video to give you a more intuitive understanding of our works.
The name of this work is Shi, just a Chinese character式，means trick, styles of the martial arts and fancy，this will be said to fit the design theme of this Bali. Many flipper like fancy play and they are very demanding of the experience，but experience is a subjective personal feeling. We've been thinking about what we're going to do with a work that everyone can satisfy. Fortunately, the Balisong is not a very complex product，we drew on the design concepts of modular solutions that had been proposed in the field of smart phones and weapons. With high-precision CNC processing support, we are able to provide 4 different shaped blades, including a trainer blades, within the same framework, 2 different materials handles, 2 different lengths and materials (titanium alloy and brass) spacers as accessories for interchangeable matching. This allows flippers to adapt to their own favorite shape and weight, or adjust the center of gravity.
First is the high-end version, you can see there are two versions, stone wash and bead blasted, stone wash one is bleak, and bead blasted is brighter, both are paired with this cool Bowie blade, blade material is Bohler M390 steel, with handmade satin finish, this is only available with a high-end version. The inlay is a woven textured carbon fiber mixed with copper powder which will be evenly distributed in the cross-sectional carbon fiber. The material of spacer is TC4 Titanium alloy. Considering some people's usage habits, the clip can also be replaced in the assembly position on both sides. All versions can be replaced. Full weight is 138g/4.86oz.
The handle of the aluminum alloy version is black anode 7075 aeronautical aluminum alloy, with brass spacers, blade material is Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel, with stone wash finish, blade styling is the most classic drop point blade, I'm sure a lot of people will like it. The weight of this version is 120g/4.23oz.
After introducing the two basic configurations, the following is an introduction to the various accessories.
The first is the handle, we have prepared two plane handle scheme, because the design of the high-end version is relatively complex，so we considered adding another style design when making accessories. The two handles are the same shape, but the material is different. One of them is Titanium alloy with stone wash finish，and another is Aluminum alloy with gray anodized，the weight of aluminum alloy version is 47g/1.66oz and the titanium alloy is 78g/2.75oz.
The second accessory is the spacers， there are four in total, two short spacers and two long spacers. There is a rail and multiple screw holes on the inside of the handle, 2 sets of spacers can be installed in any location, you can even install two of different materials spacers, the weight of brass spacers are 25g/0.88oz the Titanium spacers are 15g/0.53oz.
The third accessory is the blade, there are 2 blades, the contour is the same, are the classic drop blade, but their materials are different, one is a 14C28N CNC-processed grooved drop point blade (weight 36g), another is the M390 grooved drop point blade, (weight 36g/1.27oz). second is the M390 steel flat grinding drop point blade (weight 33g/1.16oz). The grooved drop point blade is tang pin structure，because some flippers will like the tang pins, while others like the zen pin structure. Now you can assemble both blades on the same handle, we've reserved both structures when we designed the handles. And trainer blade is 9Cr18Mov steel, with stone wash finish, the weight is 35g/1.23oz, tang pin structure, without the small hand guard, so the outline of the blade will not have a protrusion, more conducive to fancy practice.
After you select the three main components, then purchase the basic parts kit, you can assemble a complete Bali, parts such as screws, pins, pivot, bearings, washers. all packed in an accessory kit. Flippers can also purchase multiple sets to ensure that there are spare maintenance parts at all times.
Our plan is to produce this Balisong as a modular product, because this is a first attempt, so the production quantity is small，if you like our idea of design, you can give us some advice. In the future, we will also re-design some new spacers, new handles, new blades for purchase based on the frame of this knife
