In this video we take a trip on the 1830 Express at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry.

The locomotive of choice is none other than one of two surviving Beattie Well Tanks. This particular locomotive was built for the LSWR by Bayer Peacock at their Gorton Works just down the road from the museum site. The engine is owned by the National Railway Museum but it usually based on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway.

This engine has seen service on the London Underground for testing before the LU150 events. At this stage the engine is on loan to the museum from the NRM and Bodmin.

In the video we take a trip both on the footplate and viewing down the fireman's side of the locomotive. The idea behind this is that you see some of the input into what makes the engine move and stop as well as the route ahead.
