NOTE FROM TED: Birth control side effects and the efficacy of male contraceptives remain an ongoing field of study. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t...

The imbalance in responsibility regarding contraception has been going on for too long. In this eloquent talk, Camille Giacomotto highlights the history of the pill and explains how better male contraception methods could have been developed many years ago. Giacomotto details pharmaceutical companies’ and governments’ roles in failing to bring better options to the market.

Camille is a French MSc Politics and Communication student at The London School of Economics. Previously, Camille studied Philosophy and Politics at The University of Manchester and Sciences Po Paris where she began using her passion for words as a conduit to spread ideas about inequalities in access to contraception and the development of male contraception. After completing her master’s, Camille wants to contribute to bettering access to contraception through volunteering, writing and speaking out. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
