Liberalism is an ideology that premises liberty and individual rights, such as freedom of thought or assembly, the right to own property, and it also advocates free competition, among many others. In this salon, we mostly talk about social liberalism, and discuss whether we really experience the dawn of liberalism, as some suggest.

This salon is also joined by special guest Shadi Hamid, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and an assistant research professor of Islamic studies at Fuller Seminary. A contributing writer at The Atlantic, his new book is ‘The Problem of Democracy: America, the Middle East, and the Rise and Fall of an Idea’.
