HGTV Content Chief Loren Ruch Passe
Loren Ruch, HGTV’s head of content and beloved on-air personality known for co-hosting HGTV House Party, passed away Thursday at the age of 55 following a battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Ruch had been a key figure at HGTV since joining the network in 2008, playing a vital role in shaping its programming for over 15 years. He was appointed head of content in January 2023, overseeing a diverse slate of lifestyle and home renovation shows that helped define the network’s signature style.

During his early years with the network, Ruch served as executive producer on hallmark specials such as HGTV Dream Home, HGTV Green Home, the Rose Parade, and White House Christmas. In his leadership role, he guided the development and production of popular series including My Lottery Dream Home, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, Celebrity IOU, Battle on the Beach, and A Very Brady Renovation.r
In a heartfelt message to staff, Warner Bros. Television Group Chair Channing Dungey paid tribute to Ruch’s legacy: “Loren was a rare kind of leader who elevated everyone around him. Known for his tireless commitment, boundless generosity, and deep integrity, heu didn’t just create hit shows—he cultivated lasting relationships and served as a mentor, ally, and friend to so many in our industry. His influence extended well beyond the screen; Loren was the heart of every room he ent the force that brought people together.”
