I had a chance to hike up a small mountain this Christmas break and channel the Hudson River School painters for this landscape. They would have prepared a ginormous canvas and added apocalyptic clouds and lighting, but muddling through the little town in the foreground kept me busy enough. It's not the kind of scene I paint often (if ever?), so we are learning together whether it will work out or not...!
