Southern Railway freight train at Saluda, NC on December 31, 1983 on what was the steepest mainline railroad grade in the United States before trains were diverted to the Old Fort line by Norfolk Southern. The video was shot with a handheld Sony Betamax camera with a cord running to a separate tape deck hung from my shoulder. The quality and composition aren't the best, but I hope you enjoy a brief look at what once ruled the mountain.
