On March 8, 161, Marcus Aurelius became Emperor of Rome. Little did he know when he began his career as emperor that he was the last of Rome's five good emperors. Many historians praise the Roman Empire, under the rule of the five good Emperors, as one of the best places in the world for human habitation. Of course, Aurelius did not know that he would become the only philosopher emperor in human history.
