How to assemble, use and empty your Dyson Small Ball upright vacuum cleaner. Please note, the colourway of your machine may differ to the example shown in the video, but the process remains the same.

Step 1 - Lower the front of the machine onto the cleaner head ensuring it clicks in place.
Step 2 - Slide the tool holder onto the back of the machine. The fitting is tight, so use a constant, firm pressure. (please note: The tool holder is not designed to be removed).
Step 3 - Attach the stair and combination tools to the holder.
Step 4 - Slide the wand into the hose.
Step 5 - Push the handle down until the red button clicks into the machine.
Step 6 - Plug the machine into the main electrical supply.
Step 7 - Slide the wand upwards by pulling on the handle. To switch 'ON' or 'OFF' press the red power button.
Step 8 - To use, recline the handle. The stabiliser wheels will automatically lift up, and the brush bar start to spin.
Step 9 - When new, the machine is pre-set to 'Powerful suction mode'. This is the most commonly used setting.

For heavily soiled carpets and rugs, the machine can be switched to 'Max mode' by moving the suction control slider on the top of the cleaner head.

Step 10 - Always turn the machine off when switching between modes. It is advised to switch back to 'Powerful suction mode' after cleaning a stubborn task.

The brush bar always spins when turned 'ON' and the machine reclined. The brush bar will not rotate when upright.

The brush bar can be turned off for delicate rugs and flooring by pressing the silver brush bar button.Pressing the silver button again, will turn on the brush bar.

Step 11 - To use any of the accessory tools, press the red button to release the wand from the hose on the rear of the machine. Turn the wand around and clip the handle into the end of the hose. All tools can be fitted to the end of the wand.

- Alternatively the wand can be unclipped from the hose, and all tools clipped into the end of the hose.

- If your machine is supplied with a wide nozzle tool, it can be used to clean surfaces such as mattresses, sofas and cushions.

- If your machine is supplied with a flexi crevice tool, it can be used to clean debris from harder to reach areas such as crevices.

Step 12 - Ensure the bin is emptied whenever the dirt reaches the Max mark.
Step 13 - Press the red button on the cyclone assembly to remove the cyclone and bin from the machine.
Step 14 - Press the same red button again to release the dirt. Once emptied, close the bin base ensuring it clicks shut.

- Adding the brush attachment to the reach under tool enables use on more delicate areas.

- Extending the tool allows you to clean even harder to reach areas.

- If your machine is supplied with the up-top tool, it can be used for cleaning areas high up that are otherwise difficult to reach. It can be adjusted to suit different requirements.

- If your machine is supplied with the stubborn dirt brush, it can be used to clean up mud and dried in dirt.

- If your machine is supplied with the articulating hard floor tool, it has soft nylon bristles to gently remove dust from hard floors.

- If your machine is supplied with the carbon fibre soft dusting brush, it can be used for cleaning more delicate surfaces.

Step 15 - After use slide the wand back into the hose and clip into the top of the machine.
Step 16 - Unplug the machine and carefully wrap the power cord around the storage features on the rear of the machine.
